After leaving Merzouga, begin the fascinating journey north toward Fes. Travel through the desert landscapes around Erfoud and Errachidia before reaching the spectacular Ziz Valley, known for its vast palm groves stretching between rocky cliffs.
Continue across changing landscapes toward Midelt, a mountain town situated between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. After a lunch stop, travel through forests and mountain scenery toward Ifrane.

Discover monumental Islamic architecture such as the Bou Inania Madrasa and Al-Attarine Madrasa, and learn about the historic Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, founded in the 9th century and one of the world’s great historic centers of learning.
Continue through the artisan quarters to see craftsmen working with copper, wood, ceramics and textiles. From a terrace overlooking the famous Chouara Tanneries, observe the traditional leather-making process that has been practiced here for centuries.
Your guide will also introduce you to hidden corners of the medina that are easy to miss when exploring independently.
After breakfast, depart Fes and travel toward Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of the country’s four Imperial Cities.
